🗓️ DATES FOR THE DIARY
If you want a walk that feels like a mini hike without committing your entire day to it, Kerridge Ridge is the one. You start in/near Bollington, head up through fields and hillside steps, and pop out onto the ridge where White Nancy sits like a little beacon above the town.
The payoff is instant: wide-open views across the Cheshire Plain and a proper “how is this so close to home?” moment. It’s also a brilliant one for kids because there’s a clear “mission” (reach the big white monument), plus plenty of places to stop, point things out, and pretend you’re on an expedition.
Once you’ve had your fill of photos and fresh air, head down into Bollington for a warm-up and a reward. Our favourite easy option is The Bull’s Head in Kerridge – it’s right by the popular White Nancy/Kerridge Hill routes, so it feels like a natural “we earned this” stop.
One recent visitor summed the vibe up perfectly:
An exhilarating walk with a great view from the top… definitely worth the effort!

Practical bits
-
Distance: 2 to 3.5 mile circular options, depending on route (easy to shorten/extend)
-
Time: allow 1.5-2 hours (plus pub time… obviously!)
-
Terrain: mostly good paths but steep sections/steps, can be muddy/slippery after rain
-
Kid factor: great “goal” walk (reach White Nancy), but not pushchair-friendly on the steeper bits
-
Best reward stop: The Bull’s Head, Kerridge (it’s a classic walkers’ pub right under White Nancy).
❤️ Why we love it: Feels like a mini hike without needing a full day. Finish in Bollington – loads of good pub choices and cafés.
