🗓️ Dates For The Diary
Small, friendly and hands-on, Holmes Chapel Zoo is a community-run spot that’s perfect for younger families and animal-mad kids. Expect close-up encounters and chatty keepers rather than miles of paths — it’s a compact visit with plenty to see.
Highlights include keeper talks (meerkats, owls, parrots, skunks), pop-up animal encounters, and on selected days, a wallaby walkthrough. Bookable “experience days” and kids’ parties let you get even closer.
All the staff were so helpful, friendly and informative.”
It’s easy to pair your visit with a treat at Bidlea Dairy Café, just a (very) short stroll away – the zoo currently points visitors there for facilities while on-site amenities are developed.
Typical opening hours are 10-4pm with last entry 3:30pm (do check the latest before you set off).
Practical bits
-
Parking: Free parking by the entrance on Twemlow Lane, CW4 8DS.
-
Time: Allow 60-90 mins for a first visit; longer if you catch multiple talks.
-
Grade/Terrain: Level; mix of fine gravel, grass and path – pram-friendly but some sections are bumpy.
-
Facilities: Toilets available at Bidlea Dairy Café across the lane (check on arrival).
❤️ Why we love it: Close-up encounters, kind keepers and a fuss-free family trip out when combined with a treat from the Bidlea Dairy Cafe!
That’s it for this week.
Thanks for reading The Cheshire Buzz! See you next Thursday – same time, same inbox.
